From The Annals Of The Improbable

I didn’t get to see much of my Eagles’ victory over the hated New York (which, for football purposes, is located in New Jersey (h/t TMQ)) Giants this weekend, although I did happen to catch the last 5 minutes or so of it from the dining room of the Lb Brewing Company brewpub in Hays, KS.  Don’t ask for the story, although it is worth noting that, if you ever find yourself with reason to be in Hays, KS anytime around lunch or dinner, you really ought to go a bit out of your way to find said brewpub.  The beer is excellent, the food is quite good, and the decor is original and interesting.

Anyhow – the Eagles won, which is really all that matters, but the game was quite odd in featuring three blocked field goals, the sort of event that happens quite rarely in the NFL.  For reference, Eagles kicker David Akers, who has been Philly’s full-time kicker since 1999, had two blocked field goals in said career before Sunday, then had two blocked on that day.  Weird.

Anyhow, the coolest of the three was undoubtedly Eagles D-lineman Trent Cole hurdling the long-snapper en route to a block.  Definitely the most improbable thing you will see a 270-pound man do today.
