Universal (OR The problem with extreme adverbs)

From Marc Ambinder comes this nugget:

Randy Scheunemann, McCain’s top foreign policy aide: “Obama’s judgment in Iraq has been universally wrong.”

Universally? Really? The candidate who proclaimed, before the war in Iraq was started, that going to war there was a bad idea, that it would distract us from the real goal of capturing bin Laden in Afghanistan, has been “universally wrong”?
